Carles Taché is probably our favorite art gallery. Converted from an old textile factory and hidden away down a narrow alley, going there seems like you are stepping into a little piece of New York in Barcelona.

Openings at the Carles Taché Gallery are always fun. But last week’s inauguration of Catalan artist Santi Moix’s show ‘The Brooklyn Navy Yard’ was more fun than most.

The timing was perfect; an unexpected balmy evening that felt more like May than early March. As was the subject matter of Moix’s large-format paintings and murals; succulent, deep-colored flowers, captured at their most pungent moment.

Sometimes they fall into the abstract field. At others, they resemble other things completely. In most cases they radiate a subtle sexuality. Moix has started that ‘beauty in inseparable from pleasure;’ and this is entirely evident in this joyful show.
