The Peris + Toral ArqPUNT GLORIES FINAL 31uitectes designed project consists of a simple rectilinear volume that accommodates an information point, exhibition space featuring the future urban plan for the area and a bicycle rental service. Constructed from a scaffolding superstructure sheltering a metal shipping container all materials are recyclable. Situated adjacent to the recently relocated Els Encants market the site will ultimately be occupied by a residential development once the final urban and landscaping project is complete in 2019. In theory at least the pavilion will then be relocated to another site at that point.

The building is defined by its layers of transparency consisting of a tubular metal superstructure, metal mesh and translucent polycPUNT GLORIES FINAL 09arbonate panels which enclose the interior exhibition space, enclosed with a butterfly roof. The metal container houses the main programme, an information point. A timber floor lends an element of warmth to what is otherwise an industrial feeling artefact that could equally be defined as a piece of urban furniture. This simple volume nevertheless incorporates a series of architectural details including an inner lightwell, triangular shaped metal entrance gate and threshold as well as pop-art sculptural nods to the building’s programme which aims to provide citizens and visitors alike the opportunity to find out what the future holds for this rapidly evolving neighbourhood of Barcelona.
