Oggetto Design Shop is a compact showroom of exquisitely selected design recently opened in Barcelona’s Borne neighbourhood. The founders Maurizio Capannesi and Fabrizio Acanfora, both Italian residing in Barcelona for several years now, have brought their unique skills to both the interior design and the products on sale. Capannesi is an industrial designer who graduated from the ELISAVA while Acanfora is a skilled joiner who specialise in making bespoke harpsichords in his own workshop.
The shop interior features a single shelf and storage unit made from plywood and paitd shelving to dado height, with the original rubble stone and Catalan vaults exposed. The flooring is also made from plywood and the art installation on the external shutter is by Anna Taratiel (also known as OVNI).
In Italian Oggetto means something that is real and concrete, which provides the perfect description to the fascinating selection of products on sale here including mouth-blown glass, eco-friendly printed towels, handmade bags, stylishly designed bottles, handcrafted table lamps and wooden products.
Also on sale are the unique and exclusive Soft Tiles® and TAKO lamp are both Maurizio Capannesi designs and are also available to buy online. Soft Tiles® are inspired by the ubiquitous hydraulic tiles of Barcelona’s modernisme period while TAKO is a compact table lamp with a handle that provides a soft and tenuous illumination. TAKO is inspired by the local favourite tapa dish pulpo (or octopus), two wooden trays separated by a translucent sheet of plastic.
